Representatives of “ukratominstruments” Corporation took part in the annual “HEAT ENERGY FORUM 2024”, a key event in the Ukrainian thermal energy sector. The forum, held in Lviv, discussed current challenges and solutions in the field of heat supply.
The main topics of the forum were:
- Preparing for the 2024-2025 heating season;
- Implementation of innovative technologies in the thermal energy sector;
- Ukraine’s integration into European energy markets;
- Strengthening energy security in the context of Russian aggression.
The event was attended by representatives of the government, business, international organisations and academia. The Ukrainian participants included the following organisations and institutions: the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Energy, Housing and Utilities, the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Environmental Policy and Nature Management, the Ministry of Community Development, Territorial and Infrastructure Development of Ukraine, the Office of the Prime Minister of Ukraine, Lviv City Council, and the Ukrteplocomunenergo Inter-Sectoral Association.
The forum was also notable for the presence of international participants who shared their experience in the environmental modernisation of heat supply systems: NEFCO, Linka Energy, Kredsløb, UNICEF, Danish Energy Agency, USAID, GIZ.
This forum has become an ideal platform for dialogue, exchange of experience and creation of new partnerships that will contribute to the development of sustainable heat supply systems in Ukraine.
During the event, the Director General of Ukratoprylad Corporation held a number of important meetings. One of the key events was a discussion with Ronnie Nilsson, Senior Advisor of NEFCO Corporation, on the feasibility study of the project aimed at removing the district heating network of Oster, Chernihiv region, from the emergency state. This initiative is important for ensuring sustainable and reliable heat supply in the region.
In addition, bilateral talks were held with the heads of heat supply companies in the following cities: Ivano-Frankivsk, Ternopil, Kovel, Zhytomyr, Lviv, Kyiv, Kremenchuk, Novovolynsk, Starokostiantyniv, Stryi and Khmelnytskyi.
The Corporation demonstrated its achievements in the heat supply system and presented a report on “Energy-efficient low-emission cogeneration unit with a given ratio of heat and power”, which was presented by Oleksandr Korolevych. The report was aimed at addressing the issue of energy efficiency and emission reduction in the framework of combined heat and power generation.
The proposed system involves the afterburning of combustion products in an existing hot water boiler with a contact-surface condensing heat recovery unit or in a contact-surface condensing water heater.
This connection scheme of the cogeneration unit provides the following advantages:
- Significant reduction of NOx emissions into the environment;
- Significant savings in natural gas due to the condensing mode of operation;
- Generation of a large amount of distillate (distilled water) – up to 100 litres per 1 MW of heat energy per hour, suitable for feeding heating networks;
- Improving the reliability of the boiler house by providing guaranteed power supply to its equipment.
- The payback period of the investment is from 1 to 2 heating seasons.
