On 21 October, representatives of “Ukratominstruments” Corporation joined the opening of the International Conference on Small Modular Reactors and their Applications, which is taking place in Vienna, Austria, from 21 to 25 October 2024. At the first panel of the conference, leading experts and stakeholders discussed the future of small modular reactors (SMR), their opportunities and challenges related to the deployment of these innovative technologies.
A number of important topics were raised during the discussions, including SMR technology readiness, regulatory requirements, market prospects and supply chains. Participants discussed how SMR can contribute to the energy transition, especially in developing countries and high carbon emitting industries that are difficult to decarbonise.
The panel facilitated an active dialogue between the conference participants, uniting efforts to accelerate the implementation of small modular reactors, which can become a key element in solving global energy challenges while ensuring high safety standards.
